Okay, so do you see this? This is a “tear catcher” or Lachrymosa, which is rumored to have been used to collect tears in Victorian times. Once the tear had evaporated, the mourning time was over.
I’ve done a bit of research and stuff, and it’s actually iffy that these things really existed and/or were used in this way.But one thing I’ve noticed.
They look similar to soul gems.
The difference could always be argued- after all, not all lachrymosa come in the same shape. But it had me thinking- what if the soul gems were like lachrymosa? (Please keep in mind that I’ve only seen the first season of PMMM and none of the movies, so if there was some groundbreaking evidence i’m sorry.)
This might explain why or how the transformation of witches happens (other than qb’s explanation, of course). Soul gems are like the tears a girl sheds for her dream to come true. This explain why some girls, like Sayaka, burnt out so quickly. Her dream isn’t as “driven” as the others, such as Homura and Madoka, who wishes were almost godly in essence. In other words, her tears evaporated quicker than the other girls, and she finally realized the truth: they were all going to turn into witches, just like how everyone gives into their sadness.
You: So where are we? Sorry, when are we?
The Doctor: Victorian London, 1883. I’ve been here a few times. I took Rose once.
You: Rose? She has a cool name.
The Doctor: No (pauses and looks at you deeply) she had a cool name.
You: Oh Doctor I’m sorry.
(You watch as the Doctor carries on walking and you stand next to the TARDIS, unaware tears are forming in his eyes.)
Great reason to get off my butt and visit NJ!
